When is the first car sale going to happen? | Axios
The most important time of year to sell a car is in April or May, when car sales tend to be heaviest.
But some cars sold at the same time are a different story.
Axios obtained an internal memo from Ford and GM to the media in January explaining how they plan to sell new and used cars.
For 2016, GM plans to sell four-door sedans, two-door coupes, crossover and SUVs, midsize pickups, small SUVs and pickup trucks.
Ford is set to sell all four- and two-wheel-drive vehicles, but it’s unclear whether that will happen in time for the new year.
GM is also working on an all-wheel drive version of its Cadillac CTS, the CTS-V and the C-Max.
Both vehicles have been available since 2017.
The memo is the latest indication that the industry is moving toward an all of the above plan for 2016, when the U.S. is expected to overtake China as the world’s largest car market.
Ford will sell a new C-X, a hybrid crossover, and the next-generation C-MAX.
Ford and Chrysler have also announced plans to bring hybrid and electric vehicles to U.K. shores.
