What’s happening in Denver car sales?
Denver, Colorado — Ads for cars and other products, as well as billboards and signs, have increased in Denver as a result of the wildfires raging through the city.
The city’s new mayor, Michael Hancock, says he hopes the sales increase can help pay for a new airport that he says will be ready to fly people in and out of the city in about five months.
The airport is expected to open sometime this year.
Advertisers say the extra sales help offset the cost of operating the city’s two-mile stretch of Interstate 70.

The city also has been able to pay for additional police officers, with a budget of $5.8 million for 2016-17, said Denver Police Chief Todd Axtell.
