‘The new car is here’: Toyota to start selling the 2019 Prius in India
Toyota is set to begin selling the all-new 2019 Priuses in India on August 17, 2019, according to The Hindu.
The first batch of the vehicles will be rolled out in cities in the country on the Toyota Yaris, a small crossover SUV with a 2.0L twin-turbo engine and a starting price of ₹1,900.
The Prius, which is slated to be launched in 2019, will be the second major crossover SUV to hit the Indian market after the Toyota Supra, which was launched in India in 2021.
In the first half of 2019, the Prius was sold to Toyota Motor India, the country’s second largest auto producer, in India’s capital, New Delhi.
This followed the launch of the Toyota Vios in the state of Gujarat.
In 2019, Toyota’s sales in India grew by 30% to 2.5 million units, according a report by Automotive News.
However, the company did not disclose the exact figures for the period.
