The Alamo City Council approved a new $5 million loan guarantee Thursday that will provide the city with the necessary funds to finance a new fleet of about 10 new vehicles to be delivered by 2020.
It was approved by the City Council and unanimously approved by a City Council committee.
The plan was put forward by the Alamo State Bank as part of the Alamostopar initiative to provide financing to support an estimated $1.3 billion project to renovate the Alhambra-Pelham Coliseum and to build an arena in downtown San Antonio, a project estimated to cost $1 billion.
The Alamo was built in the early 20th century by Texans and their allies as a place where the wealthy could get away from city taxes, improve infrastructure and create jobs.
It has been the site of many battles in the Civil War, when the United States and Mexico fought over control of the territory.
